Lingual Frenectomy

Lingual Frenectomy using the Waterlase dental laser. This innovative technology allows for precise and efficient procedures, resulting in enhanced patient comfort and accelerated healing.

Our first step in the Lingual Frenectomy procedure is to distend the tongue and identify the area below the hemostat where the frenulum needs to be removed. With the Waterlase laser, we can begin the ablation process below the hemostat, ensuring controlled and precise tissue removal.

Next, we move the laser tip slowly from side to side to gradually ablate and remove the targeted tissue. This method allows for thorough and meticulous tissue removal while minimizing trauma to the surrounding area.

For effective cauterization, it is essential to defocus the laser tip approximately 1 to 3 millimeters from the bleeding area. This adjustment allows the laser energy to coagulate the blood vessels, promoting hemostasis during and after the procedure.

To achieve optimal cauterization, we recommend using slow circular movements on the bleeding area while firing the laser. This technique ensures complete sealing of the blood vessels, reducing the risk of post-operative bleeding.

Repeat the cauterization process as needed to achieve effective hemostasis. The precision of the Waterlase laser enables controlled and accurate tissue removal while minimizing trauma to the surrounding tissues.

Following the Lingual Frenectomy procedure, patients can expect a smooth and uneventful healing process. The Waterlase laser's minimally invasive approach reduces discomfort and promotes faster recovery times compared to traditional methods.
